#73731, 'Scallop', a sculpture to celebrate Benjamin Britten, conceived by Maggi Hambling and made by local steel fabricators, Sam & Dennis Pegg. Made specifically for this site on the Suffolk coast which inspired so much of Britten's music. The phrase, "I hear those voices that will not be drowned" (pierced through the steel against the sky), is taken from Britten's opera "Peter Grimes", which was itself based on a work by the Aldeburgh poet, George Crabbe.
